The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) are expected to release notifications for various posts in the Traffic and Commercial departments, including the coveted post of Section Controller. 🚆 Job Profile & Responsibilities

A Section Controller works in the Divisional Control Office. Their primary duties include:

• Train Operations: Monitoring and controlling the movement of all trains (Passenger and Goods) within their section.
• Decision Making: Making critical decisions regarding train crossing, precedence (which train to pass first), and managing disruptions during accidents or technical failures.
• Coordination: Constant communication with Station Masters, Loco Pilots, and Engineering staff.

🔍 Detailed Selection Stages

The selection process is stringent to ensure only the best candidates are chosen for this safety-critical role.

Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)

The CBT tests the candidate’s mental ability and general awareness.

• Mathematics: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry etc.
• General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, Coding-Decoding, Puzzles etc.
• General Awareness: Current Affairs, History, Geography, Polity, General Science.

Stage 2: Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

Also known as the “Psycho Test”. Candidates must qualify in each of the test batteries to be considered for the merit list. This tests reaction time, concentration, and decision-making speed.

💰 Salary & Perks

Pay Level: Level-6 of 7th CPC (Initial Basic Pay ₹35,400).

Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), Transport Allowance (TPA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Night Duty Allowance (NDA).

Gross Salary: The initial gross salary usually ranges between ₹55,000 to ₹65,000 per month, depending on the city of posting and night duty hours.
