Detailed Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility is the most critical part. Candidates often get confused, especially with TGT subject combinations. Read this section carefully.

1. Age Limit (As on Closing Date) & Relaxations

• Principal: Not exceeding 50 Years.
• PGT: Not exceeding 40 Years.
• TGT: Not exceeding 35 Years.
• Hostel Warden: Not exceeding 35 Years.
• JSA / Lab Attendant / Accountant: Not exceeding 30 Years.

Relaxation: SC/ST (5 Years), OBC-NCL (3 Years). **Special Note:** Women candidates (All Categories) usually get a 10-year age relaxation for TGT posts only (Subject to confirmation in 2025 notification).

2. Educational Qualification

A. For PGT (Post Graduate Teacher)

Master’s Degree in the relevant subject + B.Ed Degree. (Note: B.Ed is not required for PGT Computer Science).

B. For TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) – Subject Combinations

This is where most forms get rejected. You must hold a Bachelor’s Degree + B.Ed + CTET Paper-II.

C. For Non-Teaching Posts

• Hostel Warden: Four years integrated degree from Regional College of Education OR Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.
• Accountant: Degree of Commerce (B.Com) from a recognized University.
• JSA (Junior Secretariat Assistant): Senior Secondary (Class 12) + Typing Speed of 35 wpm in English OR 30 wpm in Hindi on Computer.
• Lab Attendant: 10th Pass with a certificate/diploma in Laboratory technique OR 12th Class with Science stream.

EMRS 2025 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

NESTS conducts a standardized OMR-based test. The exam duration is typically 3 Hours for Teaching posts and 2.5 Hours for Non-Teaching posts.

Exam Pattern for TGT & PGT

The exam consists of General Awareness, Reasoning, ICT Knowledge, Teaching Aptitude, and Domain Knowledge.

The fee must be paid online. No other mode is accepted.

• PGT: ₹ 1500/-

Previous Year Cut-Off Analysis

To give you an idea of the competition, here is a brief analysis of the previous cycle’s cut-off trends (Approximate):

• Hostel Warden (Male): Cut off was around 90-95 marks out of 120 for UR.
• TGT Maths/Science: Cut off hovered around 75-85 marks due to the tough level of domain questions.
• JSA: High competition, cut-off usually crosses 95+ due to easier paper level.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Can I apply for both TGT and Hostel Warden?

Yes, you can apply for multiple posts if you meet the eligibility. The exams are usually scheduled in different shifts or on different days (e.g., TGT in the morning, Warden in the evening).

2. Is the job transferable?

Yes, EMRS is a Central Government job. Employees are liable to be transferred to any EMRS school across India, though they are mostly posted in their domiciled state initially if vacancies exist.

3. What is the “Language Competency Test” in EMRS?

It is a qualifying section in the exam (Part VI). It usually contains 10 questions of General English, 10 of General Hindi, and 10 of Regional Language (for TGT). You must score 40% (4 marks out of 10) in each part individually. If you fail this, your main paper won’t be checked.

4. Will there be an Interview for TGT posts?

No, there is no interview for TGT, PGT, or Non-Teaching posts. Selection is based purely on the marks obtained in the Written Exam. Interviews are conducted ONLY for the Principal post.

5. Is C.T.E.T. required for PGT?

No, CTET is not required for Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) posts. It is only mandatory for TGT.
